  • USDA Rural Development has opened the Distance Learning & Telemedicine Grant Program, and this is a strong opportunity for rural communities, schools, health care providers, nonprofits, local governments, Tribes, and even eligible for-profit businesses.

The SBA has announced up to $50 million in grant awards for as many as 10 eligible applicant organizations that can provide training and technical assistance to small manufacturers.

This is directly tied to the broader push to rebuild American industrial capacity, strengthen domestic supply chains, and help small manufacturers compete in a changing economy.

Eligible organizations may have an opportunity to support manufacturers with:
• Business training
• Technical assistance
• Capital readiness
• Operational support
• Supply chain development
• Growth planning

Deadline: June 15 at 11:59 p.m. EDT

Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov.
For nonprofits, economic development organizations, technical assistance providers, manufacturing support organizations, and regional partners, this could be a major opportunity to build capacity and serve small manufacturers in a meaningful way.

If your organization is looking at this opportunity and needs help building a strong proposal, reach out and let’s get started.

This program helps rural communities use advanced telecommunications technology to overcome distance, isolation, and limited local access to education and health care.

Funding can support things like:
✅ Distance learning equipment
✅ Telemedicine equipment
✅ Computer hardware, network components, and software
✅ Interactive video systems
✅ Instructional programming
✅ Limited technical assistance for using the equipment

Awards range from $50,000 to $750,000, and USDA estimates approximately $27 million will be available for FY 2026.

For rural areas, this is more than a technology grant. It is a workforce development tool, a health access tool, and a way to build long-term rural resilience.

Applications are accepted from May 1 through June 30.
